2025 - Reefscape
Reefscape is the game for the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition. Two alliances of three robots each work to score PVC pipes (called Coral) and playground balls (called Algae) into goals. At the end of the match, robots move to a truss structure called the Barge and climb metal Cages to earn additional points.
This year’s game was based on a winning game design submission from our team called Operation Outpost during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Robot Features
Continuous, belt-driven 2-stage elevator (passthrough) capable of L1-L4
Redline motor with star rollers for coral realignment
beam-break sensors for coral position detection
outtakes coral along center axis accounting for slight deviations in intaking angle
“Owl Head” coral outtake - curved rack and pinion to precisely control angled yaw axis movement
Fine-tuned swivel reduces drivetrain adjustment necessary for scoring, easy to score at angle
Algae intake - pinch reef algae and relax tension to score in net
“Alien” funnel - passive mechanism
doesn’t require precise placement for scoring
funnel splits open to make space for climber
Deep cage climber uses lever arm+ winch
